These maps of the Sibylline world are so fun. I spent a lot of time in the early months of my Sibylline project mapping out the historic time lines and building the storyline through many, many (did I say many) versions of story maps like this one.
The mythology around the trilogy spans a history of more than 11,000 years. Dialing in time periods, historic events and characters that made sense proved more than a little tedious.
These were an amazing way to pile everything into one place, then start moving, throwing out, adding, redefining and finally determining the story.
Sticky Notes Maps of the Sibylline World For The Win
I have a long-standing love for sticky notes. I’ve used them to annotate research books or mark up novels. They are also the perfect way remind myself of my unending to-do lists. I really prefer these rather than a white board because I can switch everything around when necessary.
This was the very beginning of what became Woman On The Wall, The Sibylline Chronicles Vol. 1.
Over the years, I can see these evolving into massive walls of ideas and timelines and I would love to some day get even more organized. I keep dreaming of a gorgeous office with old velvet chairs, a big wooden desk, and a gorgeous Turkish hanging lamp too. That’s the kind of atmosphere that would take writing this story to the next level.
