I have a sweet, wee chamomile plant as generous as she is beautiful. She lives in my garden.
This morning was my third harvest, this season. She continues to produce like crazy. Of all my experiences growing herbs for tea, salves, and culinary goodies, chamomile teaches me more than expected.
What growing chamomile offers me
1. Recognize when you are at your highest point, your zenith. Then, shed your blossoms and recharge. You’ll be even stronger next time.
2. Periods of dormancy are therapeutic and required to live.
3. If you allow it, what you produce can be therapeutic. Otherwise it’s ornamental — lovely, but fleeting.
4. Growth happens with care from others, so allow it. Choose people who understand this symbiotic bond.
5. Pests, invasions, and possible failure to thrive is real. Remain diligent in your attention otherwise you may discover too late that which has already sucked the life out of you.
