Description
Ruptures by Robin Rivers are Limited Edition Prints from the Albertine Series. These numbered, signed archival prints come from the original mixed-media collage. I created this piece using my original photography that has not been digitally altered, acrylic medium and gold. Only six prints of this piece—shot in Paris, France—will be made available.
The prints measures 8×8″ and I will ship this piece flat to ensure no creasing occurs. Please note that colours and contrast vary between different monitors. The colours of the print may not match your monitor’s display exactly. Additionally, copyright of my artwork does not transfer with purchase.
The Inspiration for Ruptures by Robin Rivers
Paris, the city of light, romance, wonder. At times, it may seem cliché. But, what of its magic? Its way of drawing one in and reconstructing how we perceive the world? Through the Albertine series, I wanted to explore how memory and time fragment, reconstructing themselves into spaces that live vividly in our experience, even when they are not a faithful representation of the original. Sapiens combines images of Gallerie Vivienne, a door a Jardin de Luxembourg, and an apartment frontage in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. In the companion novella, it is a moment in the world of Albertine and Henri that they return to one another after many years of separation.
The Artist
Robin Rivers is a multidisciplinary storyteller, exploring the nature of time through memory, myth, and magic. Her work often includes her original photography, handmade papers, ephemera collected on her travels, and retellings of old stories. Her Polish and French roots deeply influence it. Robin creates all pieces at Studio Albertine in Vancouver, Canada—on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. This includes the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
